Bad news for anyone who’s ever been tempted to eat a lightbulb: According to science, once it goes in your mouth, it’s damn near impossible to get out.

Per a video making the rounds on X/Twitter (and originally posted to Facebook), there are a few things that make lightbulbs hard to take out of one’s mouth if they’ve made the ridiculous decision to put it in at all.

First, the shape allows the top of the bulb to be pushed into the mouth, but can cause issues on the way out. Second, this action clenches the jaw muscles, making it even more difficult to remove the bulb — and if you do, the glass risks shattering, which can lead to your mouth getting torn to shreds. Not fun!

The video concludes by saying that it’s “better to avoid experimenting altogether.” Not quite sure what the experiment is here, but I agree.

However, as we’re talking about the internet here, many who watched this video decided putting a lightbulb in their mouth was the *exact* thing they wanted to do.

But are the contents of the video true? It’s unclear, yet certainly possible. One man has had to go to the emergency room because he got a lightbulb stuck in his mouth, and at least one Reddit user claims that they’ve seen someone do it who later required medical attention.

As the video said: It’s better to avoid experimenting altogether.
